UAE celebrates launch of first Arab interplanetary mission
Hope is a 1,350-kilogram satellite developed by the Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) in the UAE. It will stay 20,000 to 40,000 km above Mars and orbit the planet every 55 hours. The spacecraft is created to monitor Mars from above the planet using an infrared spectrometer, an ultraviolet spectrometer and a camera. The UAE is not doing Hope entirely on its own.
