Here's how the weather is shaping up for Easter Weekend in Northern Ireland

Here is the national weather forecaster's forecast for the coming days. However, with an Arctic influence the lowest temperatures will be felt in the north with the greatest chance of snow most likely over higher ground in the north and west of the UK. The end of the bank holiday weekend will herald colder weather, however, with the Met Office forecasting bands of cold Arctic air moving across the United Kingdom from the north west by Sunday, bringing snow showers and freezing overnight temperatures.

"Tuesday looks set to be another cold day with sunny spells and scattered showers, some wintry".

"Friday will be a dry day with long spells of spring sunshine and highest temperatures generally of 12C to 16C degrees, being warmest in the southwest", she said. "The south and east will likely remain drier but still cold with a lower chance of wintry showers", said Mark Sidaway, deputy chief meteorologist.

While this week has seen glorious highs of 18 degrees in Dublin and the surrounding Leinster area, the south west of the country could see temperatures soar to as high as 19 degrees later today.

SATURDAY: Saturday will be another dry day with good spells of sunshine. Light rain or drizzle will develop in the northwest during the afternoon and spread southwards through the evening.

However, it will not last the forecast through Easter with change to colder conditions starting on Sunday. It will start off mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain, sleet and potentially snow in Ulster.

A forecast chart for Monday, April 5 showing a colder, northerly airflow across Ireland (blue colours) that will bring wintry showers across the island. Some wintry showers may develop overnight on north facing coasts.

The outlook for Easter Monday here is some snow showers, with spells of hail showers, indicating the arrival of a brief "spring cold snap". Afternoon temperatures will only reach around 3 to 7 degrees and there will be an added wind chill in fresh and gusty northwesterly winds.
