Correspondent Tracy Smith's interview with Hunter Biden will be broadcast on "CBS Sunday Morning" on Sunday at 9 a.m. ET on CBS and CBSN. Numerous emails raised questions about the then-presidential candidate's purported ties to Ukrainian business ventures including Burisma.

The notorious laptop, first reported on by the New York Post, reportedly contains emails revealing details of his foreign business interests, including contacts in Ukraine and China, along with a series of unflattering photos of the president's son.

While CBS promised that Biden would discuss his 2016 relationship with his late brother Beau's widow, Hallie, it offered no advance excerpts. 'Because he lost - because he, like me, knows what it's like not to be able to pick up the phone and talk to your son, ' Hunter Biden said, choking up. "Or that there was a laptop stolen from me", he says.

When asked if the laptop could potentially belong to him, he responded, "Absolutely. There could be a laptop out there that was stolen from me, there could be that I was hacked, it could be that it was Russian intelligence, it could be that it was stolen from me".

Fox News learned previous year the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Justice Department officials concur with an assessment from Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe that the laptop is not part of a Russian disinformation campaign targeting then-Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

The computer repairman who turned over the contents of the laptop's hard drive to Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani said the machine was taken by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in late 2019. The person or persons who turned the laptop over to the computer fix shop never picked the computer up.

Hunter Biden's drug and alcohol addiction forced his father to make a tearful intervention at the height of the last year's presidential campaign.

During the intervention, he said, he stormed out of the family's DE home and attempted to leave. After a tense confrontation, Biden stormed out of the house, only to be chased down the driveway by the future president. The Post said the laptop was dropped off at a DE computer fix shop, but was never collected with the enterprise owner deciding to look into its contents and send it to the newspaper.

"He grabbed me", Hunter recalls, his eyes glassy with tears during the clip. "I don't know of a force more powerful than my family's love", Hunter Biden said, "except addiction". I don't know what to do.

'No, I don't think I made a mistake taking a spot on that board, ' he said. "That's how powerful [addiction is]".

'I spent more times on my hands and knees picking through rugs smoking anything that even remotely resembled crack cocaine.
