Saleh agrees to reported 5-year deal to become Jets HC

He was the first of the nine known candidates NY interviewed remotely to meet with chairman and CEO Christopher Johnson, team president Hymie Elhai and general manager Joe Douglas at its facility in Florham Park, New Jersey.

Jets are poised to hire San Francisco 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh as their new head coach, a report said, replacing Adam Gase who was let go at the end of a dismal 2020 National Football League season.

Saleh's deal is for five years, U.S. sports broadcaster ESPN reported, citing league sources.

Saleh is expected to take 49ers passing game coordinator Mike LaFleur with him as his offensive coordinator. He was a linebacker for the Houston Texans and Philadelphia Eagles and made two Pro Bowls.

41-year-old Saleh - who was born in MI but has family roots in Lebanon - has been a straight-up hell of a coach since he was promoted to defensive coordinator in San Francisco.
