Microsoft Teams personal features now available in the desktop and web app - MSPoweruser

Microsoft made the new announcement just days after Teams rival Zoom announced that it would temporarily lift its 40-minute meeting limit on Thanksgiving Day. Unlike many other similar apps, Teams calls don't have a short time limit. Teams calls can last up to 24 hours, which should be longer than most conversations people have. Microsoft specifies that this limit is in place "until further specified", so the company could change it in the future. You can also add group events from chat right to your default calendar app, get task and location updates in your activity feed, and add photos to your personal Safe. Or else, you can find Microsoft Teams on your browser.

Users can join a virtual call on Microsoft Teams without requiring a Microsoft Account or the Teams app.

Chat with people who don't have the Teams app. "Seamlessly sync your existing chats from your phone to your computer and carry-on conversations on the device of your choice", Roman informed.

"With group chat and video calling now available on both desktop and mobile, connecting and organising with loved ones will be easier than ever before, especially with holidays around the corner", he said in a blog post on Thursday.

To get started with these new personal features in Microsoft Teams, you can sign in with your personal Microsoft account on the web or the Teams desktop app.

This year has been a huge year for Zoom, as families and friends around the world have turned to the video chat service to stay in touch during the COVID-19 pandemic. Chats can include up to 250 people, video and audio calls are free, and you can see up to 49 of your friends and families in Gallery view or Together mode. Now, you can type a contact's name or phone number to add them to a group chat.

You can allow your loved ones to receive automatic alerts whenever you leave or arrive at a designated location.

Microsoft is initially bringing SMS support to the Teams app in preview for its users in the USA and Canada.

Microsoft Teams for web allows the user to add up to 300 users (friends/family members) in a video call.

The tech giant says, partners and developers can use its developer tools like the Microsoft Teams Toolkit for Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code, to build custom apps.
