FSU football game versus Clemson postponed due to COVID-19

Florida State and Clemson will not play Saturday after the team's medical personnel could not mutually agree on moving forward with the game, the ACC said in a statement.

In a statement, the league said both teams continue to adhere to the minimum outlined protocols within the ACC Medical Advisory Group report. "Clemson has followed all of the ACC's protocol in preparation for this game".

It was announced early Saturday morning, just a little over three hours before kickoff, that the scheduled noon kickoff between Clemson and Florida State. had been postponed. This is standard before any ACC game can be played.

Florida State head coach Mike Norvell announced Wednesday that quarterback Chubba Purdy will miss the remainder of the 2020 campaign, according to 247Sports' Chris Nee.

Star Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence was scheduled to make his first start since October 24. Whether that comes to fruition remains to be seen. The Atlantic Coast Conference announced the postponement, although it did not detail whether the game at Florida State was called off because of coronavirus issues.

There have been 18 postponements this week out of 62 scheduled games.

Following the announcement about the game in Tallahassee, the ACC revealed several other future scheduling adjustments.

A source I have at Florida State told me that Clemson had one player test positive in the batch of Friday COVID-19 tests that are performed each week.

Boston College's home game against Louisville, originally scheduled for December 12, has been moved up to November 28 in order to complete as many conference games as possible, a news release from BC athletics said.

Duke coach David Cutcliffe said cancelling the Wake Forest game was the right thing to do given what his players have dealt with this season. "At Duke, we strive to provide an elite student-athlete experience and while this decision eliminates an opportunity for competition, we feel it is one with the best interests of every member of our program at the forefront".
