Kamala Harris halts travel amid campaign after staffer tests positive for COVID

May good triumph over evil’ Joe Biden Kamala Harris extend Navratri greetings

Kamala Harris cancels campaign swing as two test positive for COVID - but Joe Biden is not affected

Harris, who the campaign said tested negative for the coronavirus yesterday and is set to be tested again today, had planned an aggressive travel schedule in the run-up to the November 3 election between her running mate Joe Biden and President Donald Trump.

While Allen was present during Biden's joint event with Harris in Arizona, the campaign announced Thursday that he has tested negative for COVID-19, the eighth time the campaign has released negative test results for the former vice president.

"Neither of these people have had contact with Vice President Biden, Senator Harris or any other staffers since testing positive or in the 48 hours prior to their positive test results", O'Malley Dillon said in the statement, adding that Harris was not in what the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention define as close contact with either person.

The campaign also is cancelling upcoming travel for Doug Emhoff, Harris's husband.

One of the staffers is Liz Allen, Harris' communications director.

"I think that it's important that we kind of find a way, all of us, to move on and you know kind of fly away from this subject on to something else", she responded in a burst of laughter. She went on to urge everyone to wear a mask, practice social distancing and wash their hands regularly.

Democrats especially have increased their use of virtual campaigning, fundraising and get-out-the-vote efforts to limit the spread and avoid unnecessary health risks.

Harris and Biden spent several hours together on October 8 through multiple campaign stops, private meetings and a joint appearance in front of reporters at an airport. The campaign says it is temporarily suspending Harris' travel out of "an abundance of caution".

"After being with Senator Harris, both individuals attended personal, non-campaign events in the past week", O'Malley Dillon wrote.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden's campaign halted Sen.

Biden's team has taken precautions against the coronavirus while campaigning, with some of the measures drawing mockery from Trump and Republicans even as the White House deals with the fallout of its own virus outbreak.

He had no contact at any time with the two individuals, and given both his and Harris's negative testing, he has not been exposed, the campaign said.
