What he's saying: "My resignation is due to disagreements over certain editorial content published by the Company's news outlets and certain other strategic decisions", Murdoch's letter reads.

The youngest son of Rupert Murdoch, the billionaire media mogul, James Murdoch has previously expressed disagreement with his father's conservative political views.

News Corp also owns The Times, The Sun and The Sunday Times in the United Kingdom, as well as a stable of Australian newspapers, including The Australian, The Daily Telegraph and The Herald Sun. We wish him the very best in his future endeavors.

Both Rupert and Lachlan Murdoch remain on the News Corp. board, which is now left with 10 directors. In January, he and his wife, through a spokesperson, said they were disappointed with the denial of the link to climate change in coverage of Australia's destructive wildfires in News Corp-owned papers in Australia.

Fox News is now housed under the Fox Corporation, a separate business entity from News Corp.

And, during a stage interview at Vanity Fair's New Establishment Summit in October 2019, Murdoch replied "uh, no" when asked if he still watches the network that he once ran.
