As seen here in a teaser, the T-Class compact van will arrive in the first half of 2022, but we could expect to see it in the concept guise before that.

Dr Uwe Ernstberger, head of S- and C-Class models at Mercedes, said: "The new generation will once again set the pace in the automotive industry: the S-Class has trailblazing innovations in every area, from safety and comfort to efficiency".

The German firm's flagship model has led the way for technology and safety for some time - in fact it's often referred to as the "best auto in the world" - and now Mercedes is readying its seventh-generation S-Class ahead of an imminent debut. "With the T-class's new layout and design we achieve a fusion of functionality and desirability", says Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer Daimler Group. "With our unique design philosophy of 'Sensual Purity, ' we create an attractive family companion being the T-Class inspiring with its design, proportions, and its perceived value". The company said that the vehicle will be undoubtedly a Mercedes-Benz, too, bearing the brand's DNA and signature characteristics. It will be positioned below the V-Class and will be offered for the private-customer market only.

Mercedes will put forth the T-Class as a family-oriented city commuter with abilities to allow for needs of an active lifestyle as well. Access to the passenger compartment will be via a pair of sliding doors in order to provide easy access to the interior.

The Mercedes CLE will also most probably be built on Mercedes' MRA platform and can be configured with either an all-wheel or rear-wheel drive. Mercedes-Benz Vans in the small van segment In the small van segment, Mercedes-Benz Vans has been represented by the commercially positioned Citan since 2012.

Mercedes has announced that the forthcoming replacement for the Citan compact van and MPV will be offered as an electric model for the first time. Developed in partnership with the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Alliance, the new T-Class will share its underpinnings with the next-gen Renault Kangoo.
