News of MTV's Big Apple-hosted ceremony comes as Emmy brass are mulling various format options for the September 20 ceremony.
The 2020 VMAs will be the first event to take place at Barclays Center since the COVID-19 pandemic hit the city. "Among the the steps all get-togethers concerned have aligned to include things like in depth social distancing treatments, significant potential limits, the virtualization of components in which doable, and confined capability or no viewers".
MTV has since confirmed further details, revealing the awards will be based at Brooklyn's Barclays Centre but the show will feature performances from across New York City, including Manhattan, Queens, The Bronx and Staten Island.
