A subreddit devoted to Save the World changed its description to read, "The developer abandoned, community run subreddit dedicated to Fortnite: Save the World from Epic Games". "As we near the three-year anniversary of Fortnite and Save the World's release we wanted to share an update on our development plans".

In the game's latest development update, Epic said Save the World will "remain a premium experience", and will leave its Early Access phase on June 30.

Save the World's library of heroes, schematics, and questlines will also rotate throughout each season, with new quests and heroes joining the game at a significantly slower rate.

And finally, all paid for Founders packs will also be upgraded to the next level and will unlock rewards included in the upgraded back for free "courtesy of the Homebase". They're pitched as seasonal excursions with "continued progression", "levels to climb", and "unique modifiers to tackle". Meanwhile, Ultimate Edition owners will be granted the new Metal Team Leader Pack and 8,000 V-Bucks. With the rollout of Ventures, the game will transition to an "annual recurring season schedule", with existing in-game events like Frostnite and Dungeons continuing on their own seasonal rotation, separate from Battle Royale.

Further out, Fortnite: Save the World "will no longer be able to support all upcoming Fortnite Battle Royale cosmetic purchases", which tells you everything you need to know about the game's future and Epic's priorities. "Conquering the challenges in Ventures will earn you seasonal experience which impacts the level of difficulty you encounter, weapons you find, and the seasonal rewards that you earn", the company explains. While the content for the Save the World campaign will now "slow down", and the main story is complete, the post states that "there are still adventures to be had" in seasonal events.

If you are not familiar with Save the World mode, that's not a big surprise - even though Save the World is what Fortnite was when it first launched, before adding the battle royale mode that would dominate so much of the gaming landscape in the years to follow.
