Security forces on Monday have foiled an attack at Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) in Karachi and killed all four terrorists.

The militants, who arrived in a auto, opened indiscriminate fire and lobbed grenades at the main gate of the multi-storey building situated in the city's high-security commercial hub as they tried to storm it.

Receiving information about the mishap, contingents of Rangers and police arrived at the scene and killed all four terrorists in retaliation.

Militants launched a grenade attack at the main gate of the building and stormed the building after firing indiscriminately. A police officer and a security guard were among those wounded in the firing incident.

He lauded the "prompt action" by police and Rangers and directed all law enforcement agencies to be more vigilant.

The situation at the PSX building is now under control and trading has resumed, while a search and clear operation is underway.

Police said that advanced weaponry, hand grenades and explosive material has been recovered from the terrorists' custody. The Pakistan Stock Exchange administration sent out a message saying that "rangers" had entered the compound and that "four terrorists" were dead.

The attack happened days after three low-intensity terror strikes were carried out in Karachi, Ghotki and Larkana in Sindh, leaving four people including two Rangers dead and a dozen injured.
