Twitch suspends Donald Trump's account as Reddit bans his supporters community

"In line with our policies, President Trump's channel has been issued a temporary suspension from Twitch for comments made on stream, and the offending content has been removed", Twitch spokesperson Brielle Villablanca said in a statement.

On Monday, Amazon's live-streaming platform Twitch said it had temporarily banned Trump's channel over its hateful conduct policy.

The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Trump forum was banned because it too often hosted content that broke Reddit's rules, including encouraging violence, and "antagonized" the company.

"To be clear, views across the political spectrum are allowed on Reddit - but all communities must work within our policies and do so in good faith, without exception".

The site's new content policy said that communities and users that promoted hate based on identity or vulnerability would be banned.

Reddit said they were banned for violating several rules aimed at preventing attacks on marginalized groups or vulnerable communities, as well as vote manipulation and interfering with Reddit's operations.

"We are committed to working with you to combat the bad actors, abusive behaviors, and toxic communities that undermine our mission and get in the way of the creativity, discussions, and communities that bring us all to Reddit in the first place", the site said in a message to users.

The move comes with online platforms facing pressure to crack down on hateful content, including from the president, amid a broad movement to address racial equity in the wake of police killings of African-Americans.

Social-media companies have long struggled to deal with hate speech on their platforms.
