Xiaomi's next smartphone will reportedly sport a 108 MP camera and up to 120x digital zoom

Speaking of cameras, smartphone camera technology has advanced so much, it's replaced many point and shoot cameras today.

Xiaomi is working on a smartphone codenamed CAS which will sport a 108 MP camera that could be capable to deliver up to 120x digital zoom.

After launching Mi 10 and Mi Note smartphones with a 108MP camera, the company is reportedly launching another smartphone with the high-resolution sensor.

The presentation date of this Xiaomi CC10, which may not arrive alone, is not yet officially fixed but there is already talk that the phone would hit the market around the month of July. The camera capabilities are expected to be even more enhanced than the Mi 10. The report states that this upcoming Xiaomi device will offer 12x optical zoom and 120x digital zoom. Xiaomi is expected to use a similar periscope setup as it used in the Mi 10 Youth Edition. The report claims that the zoom capabilities of this new smartphone are greater than others presently out there - in accordance to the report, the leak of an engineering pattern suggestions 120x Digital Zoom.

Well-known tipster Xiaomishka has mentioned on the Russian tech blog that Xiaomi's 108-megapixel smartphone codenamed CAS will be announced with some other interesting camera features.

From the looks of it, Xiaomi is taking Samsung head-on in terms of camera and zooming features of a smartphone. Currently, Samsung is the only smartphone manufacturer which offers 100x zoom on the Galaxy S20 Ultra.

This report also mentions that this new CAS smartphone is using a different sensor code-named HM2 instead of Samsung HMX sensor that has been previously seen on phones like Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro, Mi 10, and Mi 10 Pro. However, these are still rumors and advice our readers to take it with a grain of salt.
