This statement from Infinity Ward follows a statement on Monday from Activision Blizzard through the Call of Duty twitter account, which announced that the launch of Modern Warfare Season 4 and Call of Duty: Mobile Season 7 will be delayed to later dates yet to be announced. Movement and animations look similar to those of Black Ops.
As you can see from the footage below, the fast-paced gunplay is intact, but the game world is far from finished in the pre-Alpha build.
Christopher "Oog" Garcia, a professional Call of Duty player who formerly played for Sixth Gear, was the first person to share information about the leaked footage. This leaked video shows nearly two minutes of gameplay footage from an early map.
A shorter clip of alpha footage has also surfaced which depicts gameplay from a new map called "Tanks".
Activision has not said if any of this footage is real.
Infinity Ward to take further action against racist content
The clip is roughly two minutes in length and features a player traversing a barren map. The player is also using what appears to be an MP5, but this is also likely a placeholder.
Oog also claimed there was not a Dead Silence perk in the new title, but this has not been confirmed.
Last year's entry was announced in full on May 30, so it's possible the 2020 Call of Duty could be unveiled very soon.
While plans may have been pushed back due to coronavirus complications, all signs point to an imminent Call of Duty 2020 reveal.
