New information released in Wood County COVID death

Officials said due to planned maintenance from 6:00 a.m. Saturday, May 23, through 6:00 a.m. Monday, May 25, the Case Counts Dashboard on coronavirus.iowa.gov will not reflect accurate counts during the maintenance period. Numbers from each individual county will be updated below as soon as NewsWatch 12 receives their latest figures.

The North Dakota Department of Health conducted 2,408 test and saw 49 new cases of coronavirus.

There are 300 active cases and 803 that have successfully recovered. Nine cases are still being monitored by public health staff. "Therefore, there is still a risk for people to become ill with COVID-19 and pass the illness on to others".

"Everyone taking preventative action will help to protect the health and wellness of the community and it will also help keep Jackson County open", officials said. One death was reported in Black Hawk County, one in Dallas County, one in Jasper County, one in Linn County, two in Madison County, one in Marshall County, one in Monroe County, three in Muscatine County, and one in Pottawattamie County.

This is the second consecutive day without a report of a new case of the virus.

There were 3 new deaths since Friday, bringing the total number of deaths to 191.

9,187 people are considered recovered from COVID-19.

"This case is another example of the "long tail" of Covid-19 and why ongoing vigilance is so important", the Ministry of Health said.

The Wood County Health Department has completed a contact investigation and notified those who were in contact with the individual.

Individual cases may be removed if the place of residence is outside of Collin County. Current hospitalized cases remained unchanged at 150. The Cass County man was in his 90s, not 80s. As a result, the quantity of negative test results will decrease substantially.
