The spread of coronavirus across the globe has forced us to stop doing things that for so long we've taken for granted... Sports fixtures have been postponed, concerts cancelled, cafes, restaurants, community centres, and churches and more have been closed. And being a Dutch Londoner, I want to pass this on in the country I feel so at home, and the NHS had been nothing but awesome to my family and myself!' If so, we'd love to see how you've got involved.
And yet throughout all of this, there are key groups of people whose lives aren't on pause; people who are busier than ever.
"Although we're in self-isolation or socially distancing ourselves, we're all going through this together, so at 8 o'clock tonight, let's all take some time to applaud the nurses, paramedics, doctors, and others who are in the frontline of the battle against Coronavirus".
They really are the unsung heroes of this country - and, even though this is only the beginning of what looks set to be a challenging and hard few months... we here at Capital XTRA want them to know, on behalf of you and everybody listening right now - how much they are appreciated...
Show your support on social media by using #ThankYouNHS and #ClapForOurCarers.
Gov UK posted: "At 8pm tonight join the UK in giving thanks to our brilliant NHS workers by giving them a huge round of applause from your front door, garden, windows, and living rooms".
The Clap For Carers initiative saw residents applauding from their doorsteps, windows and balconies at 8pm, with some venturing into the streets, and motorists joining in by tooting their horns.
