If the USA does put troops along the Canadian border, it would be a significant departure from the traditionally friendly relations between Canada and its southern neighbour. This is not from the federal government.

The application portal for CERB is set to open in early April, and those who apply can expect money to arrive within 10 days.

The newly merged fund will provide people who are not receiving a paycheque during the pandemic with $2,000 each month for up to four months.

The U.S. has confirmed over 74,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and over 1,000 deaths.

About 18 percent of Canada's exports go to the U.S. The two countries have already closed the border both ways to all non-essential travel.

Thursday marks the 15th day since Trudeau began self-isolating on account of his wife Sophie demonstrating COVID-19 symptoms and then shortly after being confirmed to have contracted the virus.

When the Liberals unveiled their response package, they proposed two benefits, one to flow through the employment insurance system and another for those who don't qualify for EI benefits, such as being self-employed workers.
