The news comes courtesy of an announcement made on the OnePlus BBS forums in China - Google Translate fails us a bit, but it looks like an official statement posted to the Hydrogen OS testing group. The new OnePlus Pay works over NFC and is available for OnePlus 7T and 7T Pros running HydrogenOS. Notably, OnePlus announced plans to launch its own digital wallet service a year ago, and is now finally moving ahead. After entering their card details and activating the service, users will be able to make payments using their phones at POS terminals supporting NFC-based payments.
OnePlus Pay can be activated by double-pressing the power button, and the company claims that it's optimized to scan codes much faster than rivals WeChat and AliPay.
Globally, there are mobile payment services such as Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Pay, to name a few, and it's now not known whether or not OnePlus Pay makes its way out of China.
