The all-star game is on the 17th.

And Davis, predictably, was the choice.

James next chose Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard, while Antetokounmpo, a Greek citizen of Nigerian descent, chose Pascal Siakam, another Cameroonian from Toronto.

James gambled with his next selection, taking Luka Doncic of Dallas even though the Slovenian star is now nursing a right ankle sprain.

James went with Los Angeles Lakers teammate Anthony Davis with the first overall pick, while Antetokounmpo picked Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid No. 2 overall.

Antetokounmpo also did not surprise with his first reserve pick, Bucks' team-mate Khris Middleton. Damian Lillard from Portland was James' first reserve choice and they were on their way. Not great for Team Giannis!

"That trade a year ago cost me the game", Antetokounmpo said.

"Salute my brother!" James later on said on another Instagram post. "They are all-stars for a reason".

Antetokounmpo added: "You can't go wrong".

It is understandable that Giannis would like to add some of the best young players to the Eastern Conference.

National Basketball Association legend Kobe Bryant, his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant and the seven other victims of the southern California helicopter crash on January 26 are commemorated all weekend. And when the third quarter ends, 24 will be added to the score of the team that is leading and the first team to reach that number in an untimed fourth quarter will be declared the victor. Team Giannis will wear No. 24 in tribute to Bryant. Both teams will wear jersey patches displaying nine stars, representing Kobe, Gianna and their seven friends and teammates who tragically passed away in a helicopter accident on January 26.

There is a charity component in the game, with $ 500,000 at stake for Chicago-based programs. Antetokounmpo made the first pick in the second round. The target number will be the amount scored by the team in the lead during the first three quarters combined plus 24, paying tribute to the number Bryant wore for the second half of his career.

James will aim for a third win as an All-Star captain in Chicago on February 16.

Giannis Antetokounmpo collected 36 points, 20 rebounds and six assists as hosts Milwaukee avenged a Christmas Day loss to Philadelphia with a 112-101 victory.
