Ighalo 'desperate' for Man United debut against Chelsea

Ighalo sets for Man Utd debut against Chelsea ― Solskjaer

Nigeria: Ighalo to Kick Off Man Utd Loan Spell Against Chelsea On Monday

"He [Ighalo] is going to travel with us [to Chelsea]", Solskjaer told the club's official website on Tuesday.

There have been some concerns over the former Watford man's fitness after some inactivity in China but he has since posted regular updates of him hard at work in the gym.

The Red Devils will make the trip to Chelsea FC in their next top-flight fixture at Stamford Bridge on Monday night as Manchester United have the chance to move to within three points of the west London outfit.

The Shanghai Shenhua loanee was a surprise deadline-day addition at Old Trafford, with Solskjaer's attacking options depleted in the absence of the injured Marcus Rashford.

"Odion [Ighalo] will stay in Manchester, because since he's coming from China in the last 14 days and the news of the virus there we're not sure if he's going to be allowed back into England if he leaves the country again, so he's staying here working with a personal coach, individual programme and his family then can settle in England as well, ' said the Norwegian".

"Being a Manchester United fan, he will want to prove that he's good enough for the club".

Manchester United are in seventh position in the Premier League table and six points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea FC in the race to secure a Champions League spot.

"Our recruitment process focuses on analysis and selection of players over the course of a season, with a view to the following summer transfer window".

The move for Odion Ighalo then came in for the Red Devils' chiefs in which they had no choice than to sign the ex Udinese striker considering his experience in the Premier League.

"Off the pitch, it is important to note that the commercial elements of the club are geared to ensuring we have a self-sustaining model which supports investment in the playing side".

"Similarly, there has been extensive work on our recruitment process, with considerable investment in scouting, data and analytics. As part of the reconstruction, we see this summer as an important opportunity". Our focus is on bringing in a combination of experience and the best young players with potential to develop further, fusing graduates from our academy with high-quality acquisitions.

Manchester United's next game is a crunch fixture away to top-four hopefuls Chelsea next Monday, February 17.
