The Coldplay frontman, 42, shared a sweet story about his daughter, Apple, during his appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday, recounting how the 15-year-old was mortified when he showed up to her work unannounced.
Martin is also dating actress Dakota Johnson, who recently caused a stir on The Ellen DeGeneres Show when she called out the host for skipping her birthday party.

'It's her first job and she's about to be 16 and she's making her way in the world and I'm so proud of her, ' Martin began.
"I didn't tell her but I went to surprise her - not surprise her, I went to see [her]. And I thought, 'I better buy something.' So I took a T-shirt from the rack and I lined up in the queue", he says. She was at the checkout, there were two and she saw me and went like this (mouths) "Dad get out".
He said: "When A Quiet Place came out I had an idea for a joke afterwards so I sent Emily Blunt and her husband this idea for a musical of A Quiet Place and it was just me (miming the piano)".
"I felt awful, so I moved to the other line, holding the t-shirt and being scared of my daughter".
Martin revealed that his teenage daughter Apple, from his first marriage to Gwyneth Paltrow, was almost embarrassed by the singer.
Though Apple didn't end up helping him with his purchase, the "Fix You" singer revealed he did share a touching father-daughter moment with her as he was leaving the store.
Coldplay released their eighth studio album Everyday Life in November 2019.
Ellen also played a video of a very young Martin, proclaiming that his band Coldplay would be so huge, that this very video would be on national television in four years.
