For the past few years, what with the impending departure of Daniel Craig as cinema's favourite spy, there have been some speculation as to whether James Bond could be gender-swapped in a future film.
"It feels insane to be a part of this in every way", the "Ocean Eyes" singer said in a statement per the James Bond Twitter account.
"I believe we should be creating new characters for women - strong female characters".
The rumours were fueled when it was disclosed that actress Lashana Lynch is playing a female 00 agent after Craig's Bond has left active service in the new movie.
Filmed in Spain, it starts with the star jumping into a taxi, whose glamorous driver recognises him and mouths "James Bond" before speeding off.
Broccoli told Variety magazine she sees the next Bond as male.
Mrs Broccoli has however drawn the line at the Martini aficionado being a woman, saying that although MI5 operative can be "any colour", he nevertheless "is male". "We take that responsibility seriously". Broccoli recounts the criticism of Die Another Day, specifically the giant space laser and the invisible vehicle as "too fantastical" and that they "had to come back to Earth".
Craig's era has, in contrast, more closely resembled the original character Ian Fleming wrote.
"We got too fantastical", says Wilson, referring to the film. "Daniel's acting was terrific, but he wasn't a pretty-boy".
"Barbara doesn't take no for an answer", said Craig.
