Baylor set to interview Fuente: report

Fuente is reportedly considered the leading candidate for the job, which became vacant when Matt Rhule jumped to the National Football League to take over the Carolina Panthers. Sports reports Fuente is considered the "leading candidate" for the head coaching vacancy at Baylor University. Thamel tweets Fuente and Baylor are planning an in-person interview in the next 24 hours. They may have a top candidate in mind as a replacement.

The 43-year-old Fuente, who is 33-20 in four years at Virginia Tech with a 20-12 mark in ACC play, could not be reached for comment.

Legendary defensive coordinator Bud Foster stepped down at the end of the 2019 season, and the Hokies have a 2020 recruiting class now ranked 13th out of 14 teams in the ACC, according to the 247Sports Composite team rankings.

Fuente led Memphis to a 7-17 record after his first two seasons (2012-13) before 10-3 and 9-3 performances in his final two years as the Tigers' head coach.
