Jasprit Bumrah to receive Polly Umrigar Award

India's pace sensation Jasprit Bumrah received the prestigious Polly Umrigar Award for the best worldwide cricketer (2018-19) in the men's section at the BCCI Annual Awards while Poonam Yadav was adjudged best global cricketer among women here on Sunday.

Bumrah who is the number one ODI bowler made his Test debut against South Africa in January 2018 and has been in top form in all three formats reaching a career best number three in September 2019 in Test bowling rankings. With 34 wickets in six Test matches he played in 2018/19 season, Bumrah was Team India's top bowler and played a pivotal role in India scripting history to become firs-ever Asian team to defeat Australia Down Under.

The 26-year-old Bumrah features thus far taken 62 wickets in Test cricket while using 103 wickets in 58 ODIs. Jasprit Bumrah took home two awards while Mayank Agarwal received the award for Best International debut after a scintillating performance against Australia down under previous year. The Polly Umrigar award is presented to the best male global cricketer and it carries a citation, trophy and cheque for Rs. 15 lakh.
