Report: Everton and Tottenham see Nathan Ake as ‘future star’

Everton face heavy competition for Bournemouth defender Ake

Chelsea are heavily linked with Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell and Bournemouth centre-back Nathan Ake who also happens to be academy graduate of the Blues.

Lampard was asked about the trio at his press conference on Friday and conceded that he is looking to improve his squad next month.

"We want the top calibre of player that can improve us".

AFC Bournemouth chief executive, Neill Blake, said: "I'm delighted that Gavin has signed a new long-term contract at the club". I am happy with the squad but we have to improve if we can.

Chelsea are also looking at the possibility of re-signing Ake after selling him for £20million two years ago, although he would not be available until the final days of the January transfer window if it takes the maximum time to recover.

Gavin fully deserved his first team debut earlier this season but this is just the start for him, and we look forward to him continuing his development under Eddie Howe and his coaching staff.

Ake has established himself as a key player for the Cherries under Eddie Howe. "It is what it is", Lampard said.

The Blues head into the clash on a bit of a poor run in the Premier League.

About Ake, the manager said, "I think Nathan came through here and when he has gone to Bournemouth to be able to play regular football, I think he has done fantastically well".

There has been an increasing set of speculation that the Blues are interested in taking Ake back to Stamford Bridge during the January transfer window.
