Boise State Broncos facing Washington Huskies in Las Vegas Bowl

Washington's Chris Petersen faces old team in his final game

UW Huskies to meet Boise State in Las Vegas Bowl in Chris Petersen’s farewell game

Prior to arriving in Seattle, Petersen went 92-12 in eight season's as Boise State's head coach, from 2006 to 2013.

UW will meet no. 19 Boise State (12-1) in the Las Vegas Bowl on December 21 at 4:30 p.m. on ABC.

Washington: The Las Vegas Bowl is a letdown for the Huskies, who played in New Year's Six bowls the past three seasons.

"These are two great college football brands, and the storyline of Chris Petersen having coached at both programs just makes it an even more intriguing matchup". Current UW defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake will take over the reins as Huskies head coach in 2020. They've played in the Las Vegas Bowl four times, most recently in 2017 when they beat OR 38-28. The Huskies finished 4-5 and in a three-way tie for second place in the Pac-12 North, four games behind Oregon.

The Broncos are the Mountain West champions, going 12-1 in the regular season with an 8-0 record in conference action. Petersen will coach Washington in a bowl game, his final game in charge.

UW's only previous meeting with Boise State during the Petersen Era was a 16-13 Husky defeat in 2015. They were the best team still available when it was the Las Vegas Bowl's turn to pick. It will have a kickoff time of 4:30 p.m. and television coverage will air on ABC.
