Title of new 'Ghostbusters' sequel has been confirmed

Official Title For Jason Reitman's 'Ghostbusters' Sequel Confirmed

Ghostbusters: Afterlife title confirmed - trailer coming this week!

Fortunately, the title of the film has now been revealed.

The much-anticipated sequel, which comes as a follow up to 1989's "Ghostbusters II" is set to be called "Ghostbusters: Afterlife".

An all-too-brief teaser emerged last month, complete with the original's spooky music, culminating with a tantalising shot of ECTO-1 under a tarpaulin in a barn. The movie, which had previously been referred to as Ghostbusters 2020, will officially be dubbed Ghostbusters: Afterlife. While Paul Rudd will be joining the cast along with Mckenna Grace ('Captain Marvel'), Finn Wolfhard ('Stranger Things') and Carrie Coon ('The Sinner').

After the members of a team of scientists (Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray) lose their cushy positions at a university in New York City, they decide to become "ghostbusters" to wage a high-tech battle with the supernatural for money.

Full story details on Jason Reitman's Ghostbusters: Afterlife are now unknown, though the film will center on a single mom portrayed by Carrie Coon and her family.

Jason Reitman (Juno, Young Adult, Tully) directed the new film, taking over from his father Ivan Reitman who helmed the first two and will produce.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife is scheduled to be released in theaters on July 10, 2020.
