Murray has lost five finals at the Australian Open and never won it, and it was the scene of his tearful, and ultimately premature, retirement announcement previous year. But the Swiss star failed to take both opportunities as Djokovic battled back.
With Rafael Nadal winning the US Open in September, Federer's lead in the all-time list is down to just one. As a result, Federer won no majors past year but still goes into Wimbledon 2020 at 4/1 (with Bet365) just behind Djokovic.
What that means is despite not winning a Grand Slam since the 2018 Australian Open, Federer still stands a chance to push on and add to his tally according to Hingis.

"He played so well those last three games until 40-15 up on serve".
'Novak is just not going to go away, right?
"Sometimes it's just brutal".
Speaking following the ATP Finals, former British No 1 Tim Henman backed Federer to reach 21 at Wimbledon next year.
"I think he has got unfinished business".
Andy Murray hopes that he will be able to compete with the likes of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal again as he looks forward to a full season back on tour.
