A smile from Carmelo Anthony reveals more than happiness, it shows evolution

Paul George and Kawhi Leonard each praised Carmelo Anthony while discussing the media narratives surrounding his return in the lead-up to the Los Angeles Clippers game against the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday night.

The NBA announced the East and West Conference Players of the Week for week six. It's impressive how well Melo has played with the Blazers after being out of the National Basketball Association for more than a year, and he has helped the franchise bounce back after a tough start to the season.

After dropping the first three games after signing Anthony, the Blazers have won three in a row with the former Orange star leading the way.

In his five games since, however, Anthony has averaged 19.2 points on 49.4% shooting, 6.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists. As noted by ESPN's Tim Bontemps, the Blazers' forward has not earned Player of the Week honors since the week of March 10, 2014 when he was a member of the New York Knicks.

"Honestly, I didn't know what to expect", Anthony said last week on joining the Blazers. I just hate the narratives that's created by him being back. And I've found that. "And the way that the guys have been able to kind of just open this up to me with open arms and bring me in here as one of their own, that makes the process a lot easier, too".
