FFF President Le Graët: Karim Benzema won't play for France again

Benzema hits back after FFF chief says Real Madrid striker is finished with France

Karim Benzema hit out at the head of the French Football Federation who said the Real Madrid striker's career with Les Bleus was"finished.More

Unfortunately, the same can not be said about his worldwide career with France.

Benzema has 27 global goals to his name, but will feel that he should have many more after spending four years on the outside of a star-studded squad that secured World Cup glory without him in 2018. He has been permanently dropped from the side since 2015. Benzema has not played for France since 2015, frozen out as part of the fallout from the Mathieu Valbuena sex tape affair.

Speaking to RMC, FFF President Noël Le Graët for the first time in this long-standing debate appeared to announce that Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema will never play for France again.

However, Le Graet dashed any hopes of Benzema returning to the two-time World Champions in the future. I have never criticised his qualities. Moreover, at Real Madrid he is proving to be one of the best in his position. "But the adventure with France is finished". The Madrid man took to Twitter to express his anger at the comments.

For him, selection calls should remain purely in the hands of head coach Didier Deschamps.

A very big statement that definitely leaves Karim Benzema outside of the France national team.

"Noel, I thought you weren't interfering with the coach's decisions!".

"[You should] know that it's me and me alone who will put an end to my worldwide career".

"If you think I'm done, let me play with one of the other countries I am eligible for and we'll see". They can only switch nations if they have not featured in a competitive match for that country.

Per the Federation Internationale de Football Association rules though, a player cannot play for two different countries. Unfortunately, Benzema falls outside that category.
