Giants vs. Jets Player of the Game: Darius Slayton

He also had five catches for 30 yards. Although Jones racked up almost 300 yards passing to go along with four touchdowns, a lost fumble returned by Jets safety Jamal Adams for a touchdown was the Achilles heel for the Giants rookie - who fumbled two additional times - both recovered by the Giants.

A flawless drive from Darnold that saw him complete 7-of-7 passes was capped off by the quarterback scampering in on a keeper from two yards out. It was set up by Giants rookie cornerback Deandre Baker's pass interference in the end zone that gave the Jets a free 33 yards.

Ficken's 35-yard field goal made it 34-27 with 7:36 remaining, and the defense held firm from there for the Jets. The Giants pretty much shut down the ground game, but Sam Darnold threw for 230 yards and a touchdown.

On New York's next drive, Adam Gase opted to go for it on fourth-and-1 from the 41 - and rookie tight end Trevon Wesco ran for a 2-yard gain.

Where to begin? The Giants spotted the Jets a 14-0 lead before finally waking up and pulling within 14-13 at halftime, but Daniel Jones' fumbling issues continued as he fumbled three times (Giants recovered two), one of which was returned for a touchdown by Jets safety Jamal Adams after he ripped the ball out of the rookie quarterback's hands.

For a third-straight game - after going 31 straight without one - the Jets found the end zone on their opening drive.

It was the second time this season and second time in three weeks that Slayton had caught two touchdown passes. It was Adams' second defensive TD of the season.

It wouldn't last long, however, as Tate would give the Giants their first lead of the game with 5:21 left in the third when he and Jones connected for a 15-yard score.

Tate provided a swift answer, though, as he took a screen pass from Jones 61 yards untouched.

Aldrick Rosas missed the ensuing extra-point attempt to keep the Giants down by two.

Giants: LT Nate Solder left in the second quarter with a concussion.

Jets: RG Brian Winters injured a shoulder in the third quarter and didn't return.

Giants: have a bye-week break before traveling to Chicago to face the Bears on November 24. He admitted Friday to rooting for the Jets himself and said he's looking forward to "a little fun competition in the Barkley house" come Sunday.

His son may play for the New York Giants, but Alibay Barkley - the father of Saquon Barkley - is a Jets fan through and through.
