Oakland Raiders: Game breakdown and prediction for Week 9 against Detroit Lions

Oakland Raiders: 3 Bold predictions vs. Lions, Week 9

Raiders happy to return home from game against Lions

So from a throw perspective, it was an easy one for Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford to make.

It all starts Sunday against the Detroit Lions (3-3-1). "That's the way this game goes".

"I give a lot of credit to him", Thomas said. I think it will come down to the quarterback play and I believe Stafford will out play Carr. It doesn't always have to be at the end of the game. And we did. We have to get more out of our backs in the passing game. "We just got to figure out a way how to put all this stuff together, man".

Both teams are in the middle of the pack when it comes to the playoff race and every game counts with the season hitting the back stretch. Jacobs had two, while Foster Moreau and Renfrow had the others.

Oakland (3-4) has lost two straight games (to Houston and Green Bay) after winning two in a row (over Chicago and Indianapolis).

"On fourth-and-1 from the Oakland 1-yard line with eight seconds left in the game, the Lions had the opportunity to either tie the Raiders or go ahead with a touchdown and a two-point conversion".

Stafford's passer rating is at 106 - he's never finished a season in triple digits in that category. Maurice Hurst recovered a botched handoff from Stafford to McKissic on Detroit's opening drive and Oakland turned that into a 68-yard TD drive capped by Jacobs' 2-yard run. For you fantasy football owners, I'd be playing Matthew Stafford, Kenny Golladay, Tyrell Williams, Josh Jacobs, Darren Waller, Marvin Jones, Danny Amendola, and Derek Carr if you've got them.

While there wasn't much punting in the game due to both offenses efficiency, rookie punter AJ Cole also played exceptionally well in averaging 48 yards per punt. Patricia may have defensive units as a coordinator with the New England Patriots that would bend but not break, but with minimal pressure on opposing passers and a dearth of sacks, an inability to get off the field on third down while not consistently getting takeaways, and surrendering 27 points a game simply is unacceptable.

While they've had injuries... there are no excuses, if a team scores 24 points on the road they should be able to win those games or at least be more competitive. "I was actually texting Matt last week, trying to figure out if he was going to go or not".

Defensive tackle Mike Daniels (foot) is doubtful, and cornerback Darius Slay (hamstring) is questionable. The 23-year-old also caught a career-high six passes on Sunday, and his 54 receiving yards were the second-most he has had in a game this season.

Having survived the almost seven-week odyssey by winning two of five games to remain in the thick of the AFC playoff race, the Raiders (3-4) are excited to return for a three-game homestand that will determine how long they will stay in contention.

Starting running back Kerryon Johnson struggled and then was placed on injured reserve a couple of weeks ago.

Stafford's 59-yard TD pass to Kenny Golladay in the second quarter gave him 255 TDs in his career, passing Hall of Famer Dan Fouts for 20th place in National Football League history.
