Kmart is shutting down its last two stores in southeast MI in Warren and Waterford Township. Following these closings, Transformco will run 182 stores.
Going-out-of-business sales will begin at most affected locations on December 2, with closings expected by February.
The announcement is the most recent in a slew of closures over the past several years that have left cavernous vacancies in malls and towns across the state and country.
It turns out the Marshall Kmart store will be the last one standing for the retailer in the state of MI.
It was just announced the Kmart in Waterford will be closing its doors. Since then, Transformco has faced a hard retail environment, along with other challenges, the company said in a press release Thursday.
Transformco's assets include Innovel, which provides logistics solutions to businesses and consumers; Sears Home Services; Shop Your Way; and the Kenmore and Diehard brands.
The company encourages shoppers to use the store locator function on their websites to find the closest Sears or Kmart location.
