Since the episode, viewers have called to boycott KBC for mentioning the Maratha ruler's name simply as "Shivaji", without the title. "They have even compared the "Pride of Hindustan" with a leader who merely wanted to take over 'Hindustan".
Sony tweeted on Friday that the reference was "inadvertent" and expressed regret. While everything seems normal at the Malad office, the channel has now uploaded a video on its social media page apologising for its slip-up.
