The leaked image reveals a similar overall profile, but there are many changes to the front and rear.
Skoda revealed the first-ever teaser images of the next-generation Octavia last week, which gave us a glimpse into the design of the new model. Now, an official image of the new Skoda Octavia has been leaked ahead of its global debut on 11 November. Interestingly, India is expected to get the new Octavia as early as 2020 and will be part of the four new launches that the automaker will bring over the course of the year. Diesels will still feature prominently in the range in 1.6 and 2.0-litre form, while larger engine choices will also benefit from 48v mild hybrid technology to improve efficiency. This comes less than a month before the car's global unveil on November 11. We've already been aware of some of these changes since the sedan has been spied numerous times.
Skoda is expected to update the sedan's interiors with a virtual cockpit, a new floating touchscreen infotainment system, as well as toggle switches for hazard lamps and other controls. It is one of the 5 models Skoda has planned to launch in the country by 2021, under its India 2.0 strategy. The rear is where you'll find similarities with the Skoda Superb, as it will get the C-shaped split-LED taillights. This design now resembles the Superb more closely. However, VW insiders tell us that the Mk8 Golf will use a greater percentage of lightweight metal, reducing kerbweight by around 50kg - that could also be the case for the Octavia.
The Octavia is one of the most popular cars from Skoda, specially in India.
Mechanically, it will continue to be offered with the same powertrains as the current model. The introduction of the new Octavia in India will make things exciting in the D-Segment space.
The purported image of the new-gen Octavia was leaked via Skoda's online vehicle configurator and was posted on the Skoda Community DE forum.
Expected transmission options include a 6-speed manual or a DSG.
