Nancy Pelosi Comes Out The Victor In Pelosi-Trump Twitter Matchup

US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi speaks to reporters with House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer after meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House

Trump tweeted a photo of Nancy Pelosi to insult her, and it backfired spectacularly

Trump wrote as a caption.

The release of the photo started a "meltdown" matchup on Twitter with Speaker Pelosi coming out the victor. Pelosi said. "That would be the essence of, either sitting down or standing up, what my conversation was with the president".

"Can a woman beat Donald Trump?".

Earlier in the day, the House of Representatives condemned Trump's decision to pull US troops out of Syria, voting 354-60 on a resolution that a majority of Republicans also supported. Democrats after the meeting said it was Trump, in fact, who lost his cool, calling the Speaker a "third-rate" -or "3rd grade" depending on who you ask- politician. Republican lawmakers who were at the meeting, however, have said Pelosi's claims make no sense.

According to Pelosi, Trump said "because Saudi Arabia is paying for it". Ted Cruz of Texas and Jim DeMint of SC. Carpenter questioned how a Republican president could have driven her to "speak up for Nancy Pelosi?".

Meghan McCain, daughter of late Republican Sen. Rep. Veronica Escobar, D-Texas, commented: "Someone is definitely nervous and unhinged".

"The immediate cause of this crisis was President Trump's betrayal of our Kurdish partners", said Congressman Eliot Engel, who proposed a sanctions bill earlier this week.

Hours after their contentious White House meeting, Trump suggested Pelosi was mentally ill and told people to "pray for her".

(SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. SENATE MAJORITY LEADER MITCH MCCONNELL SAYING: "I've told him certainly personally and publically I disagree with the decision". Pelosi apparently didn't mind the picture; she made it part of her Twitter profile. "I can't explain it to you. And it was belligerent from the get-go". I got an invitation from the White House.

Pelosi has previously gone viral with her apparent trolling of Trump, with her slow clapping of his last State of the Union speech becoming an instant meme.

The unity, of course, didn't quite happen.

"Nancy Pelosi needs help fast!" He described her as "a mess" and himself as an "extremely stable genius". For Pelosi's part, she said that she believed she was excusing herself from the room at the time of the photograph, calling out his reasoning for withdrawing troops from Syria for the hypocritical nonsense it was, and pointing out a disturbing connection to Trump's seeming love of Russian Federation.

In May, as special counsel Robert Mueller was wrapping up his investigation of Russia's election meddling, Trump walked out of a White House meeting with Pelosi on infrastructure spending. Later Wednesday, he tweeted that Pelosi was "a very sick person!"

"Thanks for the new cover photo @realDonaldTrump!" tweeted Pelosi's deputy chief of staff Drew Hammill.

Pelosi's daughter, Christine Pelosi, for one, appeared to identify with Trump's position in the photo on Twitter.
