Eight days after signing wide receiver Josh Doctson, the Vikings are placing Doctson on the injured reserve with a leg injury, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. He is being placed on the IR with a designation for return, meaning that his season isn't now over, but he will miss the next several weeks, including a game against his former team in Week 8.
On Thursday morning, it turned out that Doctson would be far more than limited.
The Vikings also announced that Alexander Hollins has been signed to the practice squad.
Doctson, 26, was a healthy scratch for Sunday's opener against the Falcons after just signing with the Vikings earlier in the week. Laquon Treadwell, who was released by the Vikings in their final cuts this year, was taken one pick later. Hollins, undrafted out of Eastern Illinois, spent this summer with the Vikings.
It's unfortunate that Doctson won't be able to play for the Vikings this season until at least Week 9.
