As a sophomore last season at Kentucky, Wilson started all 13 games at quarterback as he led the program to its first 10-win season since 1977. He added that the junior QB "done so much for program the last two seasons, both in leadership and his production on the field". He is one of the most historically significant quarterbacks in Kentucky annals. I'm sure he just reached out and grabbed anything he could.
"As soon as I saw him go down, and they brought the cart out, I was terrified", said Wildcat fan Nick Jourdan.
Kentucky quarterback Terry Wilson (3) is attended to by teammates after being injured on a play during the second half of an NCAA college football game between Kentucky and Eastern Michigan, Saturday, Sept. 7, 2019, in Lexington, Ky.
Wilson signed with OR out of high school but opted to transfer after redshirting his lone season with the Ducks.
Wilson's injury means Troy graduate transfer Sawyer Smith will likely start for the Wildcats (2-0) in this week's SEC opener with No. 9 Florida (2-0).
Wilson, who has won 12 of his 15 starts since coming to United Kingdom, had passed for 360 yards and two touchdowns this season. After Wilson's injury, Smith completed 5-of-9 passes for 76 yards and two touchdowns on Saturday.
Wilson ran for a 2-yard touchdown late with 5:01 remaining in the third quarter before being injured. The junior has started all 15 games since his arrival to the team in the 2018 season. Smith did quite well, finishing the season with 1,669 yards, 14 touchdowns and six interceptions while completing 62.9 percent of his passes.
