Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan, now on loan with Turkish club Basaksehir, was sentenced to two years and eight months in jail for firing a gun to cause fear and panic, illegal possession of weapons and intentional injury.

As reported by Marca, the verdict arises from an incident in October previous year, when the Turkey worldwide was involved in a nightclub brawl that resulted in a singer suffering a broken nose.

Turan, 32, who is now on loan with Super Lig side Istanbul Basaksehir was involved in a fight with Turkish pop star Berkay Sahin in a nightclub past year, leaving the singer with a broken nose.

The 32-year-old then followed the man to hospital, where he fired his weapon into the ground after reportedly begging the man to shoot him and forgive him, as per the Daily Sabah.

He subsequently faced a number of other charges including sexual harassment, inflicting intentional injuries and shooting a firearm without a license.

Basaksehir have since confirmed that they have fined the 32-year-old 2.5 million Turkish lira (£350,648) for the incident, with the final hearing of the case heard in court today.

Arda Turan has been sentenced to two years and eight months in prison, but will not serve any time after the court deferred the verdict.
