Nokia's first Android phones will continue receiving security updates for another year

These quarterly security updates will include all patches from the prior three months. These are usually aimed to keep Android users safe and protect their devices. This does not mean that these smartphones will get the Android Q update because the support could be the regular monthly updates.

I know that security updates are not so interesting, but somehow I get excited every time I see it on the phone. Nokia usually pushes these updates pretty quickly and now they are doing something even grander.

HMD is now extending their support for their older devices which is a fantastic move. The initial lineup included the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, and Nokia 6.

According to recent reports, HMD Global has chose to extend the update support period for some of its smartphones.

The Nokia 3 will be the company's first smartphone to start receiving quarterly security updates from September 2019 until September 2020.

There are some caveats. Indian and United States versions of Nokia 6 will its last update in October this year. HMD Global has also confirmed that security patch support for the Nokia 2 will conclude in November 2019.

HMD Global first brought Nokia-branded Android phones to market back in 2017, launching the Nokia 3, Nokia 5, Nokia 6, and Nokia 8.
