Sounders add QB Wilson to ownership group

"We are doubling down on this community and growing our local roots even deeper", majority owner Adrian Hanauer said in a statement.

The star-studded ownership group will help keep Sounders FC in Seattle and help build the club going forward.

The Seattle Sounders made plenty of headlines Tuesday morning, with the announcement that 11 new families have joined the club's ownership group.

Myerson led the charge to bring the new ownership group together. Several in the Seattle area were concerned that an investment group from outside of Seattle would move the team. "Time and time again, he would ask, 'What is best for the Sounders?' Selflessly, this question would always guide his thinking as we navigated through a variety of options for the club and new investors".

Former Fox Sports executive David Nathanson and his wife, Sabina, are also part of the group of additional investors, as are longtime technology executive Chee Chew and his wife, Christine, and former Pandora CEO and ABC executive Brian McAndrews and his wife, Elise Holschuh, who now serves on the strategy committee of Hugo House. The new ownership group is focused on keeping the team in Seattle.

"We are fired up about the Seattle Sounders because it's our home. I'm proud to consider him a partner today".

The first incarnation of the Sounders played in the North American Soccer League from 1974 to 1983, and the name was brought back when Seattle's MLS expansion team started play in 2009.

The Sounders, who won the MLS Cup in 2016, are now second in the western conference.

It's not Wilson's first venture into the business side of sports.
