Former Manchester United defender Jonny Evans believes Harry Maguire is "tailor made" to succeed at Old Trafford and can emulate Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk.

Maguire made his PL debut for United on Sunday as they beat Chelsea 4-0.

The England global defender has just become the world's most expensive defender ever, completing an £80million move from Leicester to Manchester United.

"He's tailor-made for Manchester United, it was a great move for him".

However, the Red Devils had the chance to bring the England global to Old Trafford back in 2013 for just £4million.

Conflicting reports claim Moyes was referencing whether he refused to sign Maguire while at Everton or while at Manchester United, but either way Moyes continues to forge this unusual reputation for himself that I wish he would stop doing. Let us know in the comments section below.

"Both [Maguire and van Dijk] are great on the ball, and Harry has got explosive pace people don't see".

"Everyone will compare the transfer fees but it's so hard to judge transfer fees nowadays".

"In the transfer market it's all supply and demand and things can go up and down at any moment. At Leicester, he played on the edge of his own box and had lots of protection from the players around him", Merson had said, as quoted by Leicester Mercury. "He will be a real hit there, he is a fantastic player".

"We didn't try to sign him but we flagged him up at that time", he told talkSports. "As I always said, Lindelof can be a very good player, and with Maguire, (they) can make a very, very good couple". You thought: "My goodness, how big is Harry going to be" because he was a relatively young boy at that time'.

Build-wise, you're looking at him thinking you can only get bigger, his hips, but to be fair he looks in terrific shape and he's not changed at all really.

"It is patently clear Manchester City wanted him, therefore, we are looking at a player whose passing skills and ability has been validated by judges beyond those at Manchester United".
