"The theme park has nothing to do with the Trump Organization, we have to make it clear", Tanoesoedibjo said at a news conference in the capital that was also attended by Donald Trump Jr.to introduce the launch of Trump Residences in West Java and Bali.
Donald Trump transferred his shares of hundreds of firms in 2017 to a revocable trust administered by Trump Jr and the Chief Financial Officer of the Trump Organization, Allen Weisselberg. Tanoesoedibjo's plans for the project include a concert venue that can accommodate 100,000 people, a production facility for film and television studios and a theme park that he has said would be twice as big as Universal Studios in Singapore.
Trump Jr. said the theme park had nothing to do with the Trump Organization.
"But the notion that some people would say that because of the development somewhere that my father would, you know, even remotely be influenced or change US policy on major issue that affects the life of hundreds of millions of Americans and frankly, that people around the world are totally asinine, and so I'd like to shut that non-sense down once in for all", said Donald Jr. "I'd like to shut that nonsense down once and for all right here".
Asked if the U.S. -China trade war might have any influence on Trump projects, Trump Jr said: "There's literally zero influence in one decision-making process as it relates to the other".
MNC Chairman and CEO Tanoesoedibjo said his group had not received any financing from China for the Trump-related project.
Indonesian business tycoon Hary Tanoesoedibjo's MNC Land is investing $1.7 billion to develop the two sites, including a Trump-branded six-star luxury hotel in Bali and a resort and condos in Lido in West Java.
The property owner signed a deal four years earlier for the development to include a Trump-branded hotel along with a golf course, country club, luxury condominiums, mansions and villas - billed in its promotional material as "Trump Residences". The Trump Organization will manage the properties under an agreement made with MNC Land in 2015, before Trump was elected.
They are to be constructed by MNC Land, one of the companies owned by Indonesian businessman Tanoesoedibjo.
He was also reported as saying that the projects are "a dream becoming a reality" for the Trump Organization.
