Camera IconSOUTHAMPTON, ENGLAND - JULY 21: Cameron Bancroft of Australia speaks to Steve Smith of Australia during a training session at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton on July 21, 2019, ahead of the first Ashes cricket test match between Australia and England at Edgbaston.
Australia won The Ashes convincingly in 2017/18 but buoyant England will be hoping to take a revenge.
Keeping the ODI series' result in mind, Lanning said they were in a position to make that decision. "It's our job as English cricketers to try and carry that momentum on and hopefully an Ashes win will do that".
Australia had an impeccable start to the only Test match as they declared the first inning after scoring 420 runs for the loss of eight wickets.
With England still 19 runs away from avoiding the follow-on, Marsh smoked Sophie Molineux for back-to-back boundaries and then chopped the spinner through the covers for four more to take them past the 272 they needed to force Australia to bat again.
Australia batted out the final day to finish on 230 for seven, with player of the match Perry ending unbeaten on 76.
"You'd think by now it would have sunk in but to be world champions, it still gives me goose bumps listening back to it and watching it". Both teams were trying to get an advantage.
"We meet up on Monday and at the moment I feel good", he said. I know I might have an injury, but I didn't look past the World Cup initially.
Even if England win the three remaining short-form matches and tie the series with two points coming for each victory, Australia will retain the Ashes as holders.
