'Mindhunter' Season 2 Premiere Date at Netflix - August 16

David Fincher Confirms ‘Mindhunter’ S2 Will Finally Hit Netflix Month

‘Mindhunter’: Netflix Crime Drama Set To Return For Season Two In August

Mindhunter isn't his first drama with Netflix; he also directed episodes of the political drama House of Cards. Netflix knew it had something good on its hands and renewed it for a second season soon after the premiere. Almost two years will have passed by the time Mindhunter season 2 hits the platform on August 16.

The series stars Tony Award nominee Jonathan Groff (Hamilton, Spring Awakening) and Holt McCallany as Agents Holden Ford and Bil Tench in the FBI Behavioral Science Unit.

Mindhunter has already tackled a lot of incredibly serious subjects like the portrayal of real life serial killer Ed Kemp, who murdered ten people and is still in prison in California today.

Season 2 fast-forwards to the Atlanta child murders of 1979 to 1981, where 28 African-Americans were killed.

The show's first season hinted at the presence of a killer who was, at the time of the show's events, flying under the radar, but that apparent subplot remained a mild tease.

During a podcast with The Treatment's Elvis Mitchell, Mindhunter executive producer/director David Fincher announced that Season 2 - which will span just eight episodes, two fewer than the freshman run - will premiere on Friday, Aug. 16.
