Viewers will get to see both this morning as Williams takes on Simona Halep for the women's singles final. In addition to having a baby in 2017, Williams publicly announced her investment firm - Serena Ventures - earlier this year and has been vocal in the gender pay gap fight in tennis. And Centre Court was rising and roaring to salute a performance of staggering intensity.

Watching her daughter do that - and win - her mum Tania had no more words. She got here by bulldozing past Barbora Strycova 6-1, 6-2 in the semifinals, showing off conditioning and shot-making she hadn't previously displayed this year.

Halep produced eight winners before a single unforced error, avoiding a miscue until the seventh game. It's part of a full day of championship Wimbledon events, the schedule for which you can find here. You feel everything is handsome. My stomach was not very well before the match", said Halep, a 27-year-old Romanian, "but I knew there is no time for emotions. It also fulfilled a longtime promise.

"I was motivated after I won the first one in French Open that there is another chance for one more", said Halep.

"I have to play the final of Wimbledon so the day came, so to my mom, thanks. She was getting just a tremendous amount of balls back". I knew she's very emotional. I think I have the feeling. So today it's real. I never played a better match. "I was thinking too much".

Halep has won one Grand Slam before, triumphing in the 2018 French Open. Such setbacks would have crushed many, but instead it only strengthened her resolve.

Saturday's match was Williams' 11th Wimbledon singles final.

Williams lost to Angelique Kerber in last year's Wimbledon final and lost to Naomi Osaka in the championship match at the US Open. "It's never easy to face a Grand Slam final". Williams is favored by 3.5 on the game spread, and you can get +135 (risk $100 to win $135) on the American winning in straight sets, among a slew of wagering options.

It was a tactic which worked to perfection for the world number seven who had lost nine of her previous 10 meetings with Williams. Wimbledon was stunned, but not as half as much as Williams.

"She literally played out of her mind", a gracious Williams said immediately after receiving the runner-up trophy, her fourth at the All England Club.

By winning her second grand slam at Wimbledon, Halep became the first Romanian player to win the tournament. "It was a little bit deer in the headlights for me". "She's an inspiration for everyone".

"I just came on court and I gave my best".

She has said the mixed doubles she played with Andy Murray helped on that front.

"Someone told me I shouldn't look at the records anymore".
