Frank Lampard: Chelsea need to improve fitness

Chelsea draw with Bohemians in Lampard’s first game

An early Michy Batshuayi goal was the difference until Eric Molloy (who is on trial) came off the bench to snatch a draw with a minute left as Bohs offered up a fine endorsement of the League of Ireland.

"It was a good run-out, we had good support and thanks for people turning out. I want to stretch them because that's what pre-season is all about", the 41-year-old told Chelsea's website

"We've only been back just a few days so there had been some pressure on the lads and we have been working them very hard".

"He wants us to play with high intensity and we want to be dominant in games, the manager has explained how he wants us to play and we are all enjoying the camp so far". I am pleased with the outcome.

"We've all had a good break, which was needed after a long season with the Europa League running until the end of May".

You would think a game of this little significance, right at the start of the season, would be the flawless time to put a game on Chelsea TV for free, to show off what the platform can do for Blues fans all year.

"We wanted to win obviously because you always do but it's not about that at this point - it's about individuals getting fit and pushing themselves to the limit".

"I'm really looking forward to the new season", Azpilicueta is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail.

Lampard will be hoping to get his first win on Saturday when the Blues face St Patrick's Athletic at Richmond Park.

One man who did not see action in the Irish capital was Christian Pulisic, away following his participation with the United States in the Gold Cup, which ended on Sunday with final defeat to Mexico.
