Created to capture Bowie's iconic Ziggy Stardust alter-ego, the doll features Barbie donning the singer's metallic red and blue space suit, along with oversized platform boots.

To quote David Bowie's legendary "Starman" lyric, "Let the children use it".

The toy manufacturer have released a series of pictures of the doll which comes complete with red hair, metallic jumpsuit and Ziggy make-up. In a definitive celebration of two pop culture icons, Barbie® honors the ultimate pop chameleon, English singer, songwriter and actor, David Bowie, whose dramatic musical transformations continue to influence and inspire.

In life, David Bowie was one of the most magnetic icons of modern pop culture, seducing generations of fans with both his music and his counterculture persona. He was, and remains to be, a unique presence in contemporary culture.

It's available for preorder now and due to begin shipping later this month, and its packaging includes images for Bowie's early career.

Barbie has had other variants celebrating real-world individuals including Frida Kahlo and NASA data engineer Katherine Johnson, as part of its "Inspiring Women" range.
