Toyota Gazoo Racing has revealed the production version of the Supra GT4 race vehicle, set to compete in various championships in 2020.
Toyota Gazoo Racing today confirmed it will launch the GR Supra GT4, a race vehicle for private/customer teams, in 2020.
The GR Supra GT4 is based on the A90 Supra road auto and is developed and produced by Toyota Motorsport GmbH, the Germany-based outfit that also produced rally and circuit versions of the Toyota 86. This comes on the back of growing worldwide customer expectations following the unveiling of a GR Supra GT4 concept vehicle at the Geneva Motor Show in March this year, and the GR Supra's participation in the Nürburgring 24 Hours race in June.
The GT4 race category is popular with private race teams around the world due to its low cost and ease of entry. As a result, it's eligible to be entered into series such as Nürburgring VLN races in Germany, the Michelin Pilot championship in America and the Japanese Super Takiyu series. The arrival of the GR Supra GT4 will provide motorsports fans with the joy of watching the GR Supra compete in circuits around the world. With the GR Supra GT4, Toyota's global sports vehicle will be a regular fixture at race tracks around the world, that's for sure.
There's also five-hole 18-inch alloy wheels shod in Pirelli track tyres, an Akrapovic motorsport exhaust system and mechanical lubricants sourced from Ravenol. Toyota has announced it will sell them to "private/customers teams" starting next year. Headquartered in Toyota City, Japan, Toyota has been making cars since 1937.
